Stylish transmog set in WOW

I don't care what I have to do to get it. I will do whatever Blizz throws at me. I just want my damn green fire. I did the god forsaken Tarecgosa questline. I'm not sure anything is going to be as hard as that fight was for a warlock. If you want green fire then why not make the WOW gold quest chain open for all but take some skill to justify adding the extra content (above and beyond just making it a glyph) instead of trying to force some fake "prestige" into the equation?

 

I'm a little lost, what is the point of prestige in a computer game? Does anybody ever look at someone else in game and go "Oooh, that guys' mount/title/shoulderpads make him so special"? Does anybody ever care what another player has above thinking that they'd like it and wondering how to get it? The same, to a greater extent, goes for the World First Crowd. Or people who've picked a particularly stylish transmog set. Or collected a rare pet that they think is nice.

 

It's a big motivator for some WOW gold players. Look how many people like to hang out near the bank on their latest shiny mount. I mean, we don't care about that, but for them it's a major reason to play the game and a great source of harmless pleasure. After all, the guy who hangs out on his latest mount near the bank might think it's prestigious, but as you point out nobody cares about it, so it isn't.

 

That's not prestige though, is it? I like transmog sets and coordinating my character's titles, pets and mounts with it, but none of them make me prestigious. They're just nice things to have or to go for in game as you say, if they're not available any more it doesn't make them prestigious, it just makes them unavailable and irrelevant to everyone who doesn't have them. Collecting I understand, fashion I understand, competition I understand, but the concept of "prestige" in game I don't. I get that people like to think they have it, but I've never met anyone who cares about something they don't have and can't get. So I'm not sure why Blizzard would try to artificially encourage it with this.
